The Lifted Veil is a book project based on a blog I started when my wife had a stroke on a London train platform in 2009.  Three thousand miles away from our home and children in New York, I started the blog – Get Better Mary Elizabeth – to share information about my wife’s progress and recovery. The daily posts became a form of devotion and soon ventured far beyond factual updates into more philosophical reflections.  I continue to post to that blog (although far less frequently).

The Lifted Veil is published here in installments, with new chapters being added on a regular basis.  I’ve also added a gallery which contains photos (many by me) of the locations mentioned in each chapter.
